What's the cheapest way I can swap an LS3 engine into my Regal? What parts do I need? I want a complete list so I don't have to lift a finger and can buy everything at once. Also, can someone come over and show me how to install it? I started a go fund me page so I can get the funds to buy my engine while I'm playing video games inside the house. I'll post pics when I'm done. Oh, and I want it to handle like it's on rails. What springs do I need to lower it 4 inches? Anyone want to guess what kind of car I'm trying to put all this stuff on? I'll post this once, and when it gets to 2 or 3 pages of answers and help suggestions, I just won't come back because I'm too busy so you'll never know if I ever got my project done, let alone started.*

I can't speak for others.....but that is definitely not why I swapped a 4.8l into my 442.
I can afford a new corvette, camaro....etc. It's just that I really dislike the styling of anything newer than the g body era. To me, an ls swapped g body is a perfect blend of traditional muscle car styling and modern performance/reliability/mileage.
9" rears don't even belong in GM cars IMO. Parasitic losses are huge compared to the correct one. I understand why people do it, but nobody on the street really needs one. Walk up to 15 people on the street and tell them you have a 9" rear and they'll either 1) not give two craps or 2) look at you like there's something wrong with you- and still not give two craps.
It all comes down to setting what goal for your car you want, and how close you come to realizing that goal. Nothing more, nothing less.
I put a 9 inch in mine because it was easy to find and buy.
Here in Nova Scotia any decent GM rearends are next to impossible to find.
If anyone has a 12 bolt they either don't want to part with them or they want an arm and leg.Then you need special control arms to make them fit.
The 8.5 rear is much the same as the 12 bolt.I looked for one for 2 years before buying the 9 inch.
As for the parasitic losses,the advantage of having a strong rearend that you can beat on far outweighs one that you have to baby to keep it from blowing up.
Parts are easy to find too.Mine also has LTD big car size brakes that work way better than the stockers did.

Say whaaaaa? I'm not sure where to begin with how that sounds. There are plenty of LS engines out there and probably more going to waste than are getting re-purposed. If it wasn't for people putting them into older cars add many more to the scrap pile.
All I can add to this is that I'm glad this forum isn't full of LS nutswingers, seems like a healthy balance of different ideas and choices. And that said I own a LS powered vehicle and at this point plan to swap one into my LeMans as well as it's starting from scratch. Gladly keeping my Monte's SBC powered for the foreseeable future.

Saw such statements looking around LS1tech, some seem to view LS conversions as competation for junkyard engines or driving up used engine prices, and some people just dislike anything old.
