If it says Holley on the part, then 'pricey' is a given. But there is a lot to be said about direct bolt in parts. The oil pan is a part that I would consider due to the amount of a PITA required to modify a stock, aluminum pan. But I'd be choking, hacking and coughing the entire time I would be pulling out the credit card to pay for it - lol.

evilregal - there is a reason that it is becoming so popular to 'LS everything'. Most of it was created by GM engineers, but also a good share of it was created by the GM integration and marketing departments. Allowing the software to be available on the cheap to program and not making every aspect of the motor's operation a secret. The effort made to allow for parts interchange between the motors is astonishing, but I think GM figured that out back in the 60's and the benefits that will ensue from it. Ford and Chrysler still haven't figured that one out yet. It really allows the aftermarket to flourish. Think about the engine in our G-body, LS heads on an aftermarket block that follows the Gen 1 platform, and it's cheaper than I can but Coyote or Hemi shortblock, let alone a long block (and with double the power potential.)

Not only that, but in the case of G-Bodies, at least in stock form, the LS's offer comparable fuel economy to what the base V-6s had (assuming you're not constantly hammering on them) with triple to quadruple the horsepower. Hard to beat that trade-off.

That was my original plan but since mine has a pretty well done engine to begin with I have now been thinking of going the EFI route on it. Had originally been thinking FiTech but now debating on Holley Sniper because I hear the support is so good on them.

I like those turbo manifolds but the price is pretty steep.

Exactly my point - a really nice piece, but also a really extreme price to go with it. But I have to admit that if time is more of an issue than money, then that turbo manifold giddyup is a wham, bam install in less than 1/2 a day.

We are running a set of flipped truck headers that we cut and modified with v-bands to accomplish the same. I paid a welder $50 and have $35 in v-band flanges on a set of freebie manifolds. But it took 2 weeks to complete (shrug). A whole bunch cheaper than $5-600 though.

As always, it comes down to time, money and priorities. I don't think either way, bought or built, is incorrect - to each his own.
