hello,

where from i can buy a Oldsmobile Diesel V6 lt7 engine ?!

and what 's th price range about it?

thanks.

The Olds diesel V6 was only put in cars for a year or two, and subsequently are very hard to come by.

You'r best bet is the Olds diesel 350 V8...

Trying to piece all that stuff together is going to be a lot of work unless you can get your hands on a complete donor car.

what about swapping to gas? I'm not to familiar with diesels but I know 6.2 Chevys are everywhere cheap

Gas is a good option, but it will require you to rewire the car and change the fuel system a bit. This was a common procedure when these cars were new as many of the GM diesels died early deaths. This left otherwise very nice cars with dead engines which were sold for cheap. After that, they were converted usually to a gas Oldsmobile V8 as it is the easiest swap for the V8 diesel. As for the V6, I can't imagine it was very popular seeing as how the V8 was a dog. It is very hard to find any diesel stuff left in the junkyards today because most of them died an early death or were converted to gas. Anhow, maybe you could post some information for us so we can help you. What year and model is the car, and what does the engine look like? I have never heard of this engine in a G body, so it would be interesting to see a picture of the engine bay.

Is your car front or rear wheel drive? I ask this because the only diesel V6 I have ever seen was used in FWD applications like the Cutlass Ciera (which is not the same as a G Body Cutlass Supreme). I also just looked up that engine code online and Wikipedia says the LT7 is the Front Drive version, and the rear drive version is the LT6. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldsmobile_Diesel_V6_engine

What country are you in? I ask because that does not look like the US with the older model small car being used as a Taxi. It almost looks like a mid 70's Toyota Corona or maybe even a Lada 2107. Even in the US it would be hard to find one of those v6 Diesel engines. Overseas would be nearly impossible.

I think he mentioned in another thread that he was from Iran, which would make getting this stuff extremely difficult to say the least.

Without a complete donor car, a swap of this sort would be impossible, unless the decision was made to swap in a diesel motor that is more abundant over there.

Iran? Yeah, that's a tough one! If I were in Iran and needing a diesel engine, I would probably look at a medium duty truck. I think there should be some Soviet (GAZ, ZIL?) designs that were sold there due to the close trade relationship that exists between the two countries. However, any conversion would probably end up like something from Cuba. Butch and purely functional. For a gas engine, why not use one from a GAZ Volga if it is sold there? It's about the same size and weight, rear wheel drive and IIRC, Volgas were available with automatics. ( I have never seen a Russian car, but I have read about them. To me, they are the stuff of legends and dreams (Especially the ZAZ 968!)...but I am a little warped.) Then again, Saudi Arabia and some other countries in the Middle East use rebadged Holdens (Sold as Chevrolets) with RWD drivetrains too. One of those may be a good donor for the Pontiac. Maybe a Lumina or Caprice? I dunno. Iran makes what would be a difficult search for parts in the US nearly impossible due to trade restrictions. Sorry I don't have any more ideas. If you can't source one now, maybe you will in a few years if trade sanctions relax a bit.
