lug nut sizes

so is it true and below year cars are 7/16 inch thread and 82-87 are 12mm x 1.50 ... i have an 84 el camino and 79 malibu the lug nuts wont work on the 84 there 7/16 size for my wheels i got orignally for my 79 malibu .thanks any info will help

It is true so if you have a 8.5 rear and/or s10 brake upgrade on the 81 and older you need 12x1.5 metric lugs
