10 years ago my Dad and I were down in Tennessee for the "Shades of the past" car show. I snagged up this car on the last day for $1700 from an old boy from Alabama that really didn't want to haul the car back. I live about 30 miles north of Cincinnatti and drove it home the same day I bought it. The car drove like a dream! I had big plans for this car as it was my dream car in high school and I couldn't wait to start working on it. I pulled the 267 motor and built a 355 and put it in and then funds got tight. Me and my wife had a baby, bought a house and I suddenly found myself with no time or money for the car. Well 8 years since I put the motor in I'm finally back on track and have put back enough funds to get this project completed!! And the best part is I now have a 7 year old son who is just as excited as me and will be putting in long nights in the garage with his Dad. I've been taking pics of my progress and have posted them below. Paint I've chosen is "Axalta orange crush" and I plan on a double "matte black finish" pin stripe to compliment the body line. Front spoiler and rear spoiler installation. For the rims I'm doing a 18/17 inch stagger on QA1 coil overs. I also want to finally match up the drivetrain with the healthy 355 I built for it 9 years ago. I have ordered a Auburn posi unit, 3.73 gears, and 2500 stahl. I will continue to update the progress with pics and would love to hear some input or other ideas for me to consider. Thanks!

Awesome keep us posted on your dad and son project. My Malibu is a dad and sons project as well keep it going.

85montanezSS, thanks for rediscovering this thread! This one also should be relabeled as a Build Thread so we can find it and keep up with any progress. My Dad was not a car guy, but I am working on my kids...if it's a 'family activity', then I can spend more time workin' on the dreams.

Jeremy,
I'm glad to hear that you held on to the car and didn't sell it years back. Good to see that your enthusiasm has returned. With your young son by your side learning and helping Dad in the garage, it provides even more incentive.
Good luck! We'll be following your build thread.
