Hey all,

I started seriously looking for a car about a week ago, I've been lurking here for some time. I located a car in my price range about 2 hours away from me and I have some questions for the experts on what to look for. Since there is a distance we are going about this via emails and the owner has offered to send me any pics I need. We have discussed the rear 1/4s and the trunk and floor are solid. Are there any areas I should ask pictures of that are known trouble spots. This car spent its life in the south according to carfax. Tennessee, Georgia and Kentucky. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Mike

Ask for floorboard shots, frame rails, trunk floor, bottoms of doors (both in and out) and thats all I can think of right now. But theres many more

A Pillars

Door skins

and of course quarters and trunk seem to be the main notorious areas

Okay, here's the latest. I asked him to send me shots of the engine bay, the 1/4s and the trunk. He sent all of those and a shot from underneath as well. All looks good. The story on the car goes like this. He bought the car almost like it sits. He added an A-pillar guage pod with 2 gauges in it, and replaced the intake gasket. The previous owner however, did quite a bit more. The car is about 40% through the GN clone process. It has the turbo hood, GNX fender flares, Correct taillights, bumper covers with fresh fillers and the rear and passenger seats in MINT condition. The trans is a 200r4 from a T-Type and a 8.5 posi rear end. I closed the deal and a deposit is en-route. I'll pick up the car
next week on my days off. So it looks like I am going to be shopping for a drivers seat and the correct engine. Don't get me wrong, the car has it's issues which once I get it home I'll go over and post fresh pics with many, many questions.
Be patient with me y'all, this is not my fist Gbody, but it is my first GN conversion. I can't be-****ing-lieve I'm getting my dream car, let alone getting to, at least partially build, it. Thank you Jeebez...

Mike

Where are you located at? I have a complete engine, wiring harness, ECM and intercooler out of my other car that I would be interested in selling. I am not going to be using the engine in the car. I am planning on going with an LS engine.

Chris

Thanks for the offer Chris, but the car, transport, tags and insurance have pretty much broke the bank. I would love to drop a ready to go turbo swap into the car but I just can't swing it. Thanks though.
