Mock up engine block question

I have the gbody Holley ls swap mounts now.

Yeah that’s what I was wanting to do but was making sure. Forgot all about the ls engines being closer to the firewall with these Holley mounts!, thanks!

So a 5.3 from like a 07 and above truck will work fine for mock up before I get the ls3 right? Just want to be sure because I’ve screwed my self before on other calls!🤦‍♂️

The Holley mounts will put your transmission mount flange on the motor in the same location as the 305s factory location. So if you just need to mock up just a trans mount it will work.

With that said, your absolute best bet will be to get that 5.3 from the truck. All Gen 3/4 LS based blocks, LS1, LS2, LS6, LS7 LQ4, LQ9, LM4 and LM7 are the same. The newer 2012 and newer LT based stuff is different, but pretty much every GM small block V8 from 1999 to 2011 is the same as far as mounting and trans mount spacing. Compared to the 305, everything in front of the trans mount flange is spaced different from the LS blocks to the Gen 1 small block.

Hope that clears it up a bit for you.
