Arg...well i think i might be a victim of bad business.

I ordered a top end gasket kit, Oil pump/ pickup from these guys and there where a few things that seemed suspicious but because of there reputation i overlooked it. Well just now i was about to hitup the mondello website to order some more parts but i forgot the URL, so i googled it.......

I should probably mention that instead of sending me the normal gasket kit, like i ordered...they sent me the more expensive high performance kit without my consent, but i wasn't mad because i felt like they did me a favor. They said they "cryogenic-ally" treated the gaskets then re packaged them...I'm probably going to give up and scrap this 403 build if I've been duped here.

I mean i know people can be *ssh*les, especially on the internet..but there are just too many people being outright screwed...or so they say.

Has anybody on here had a bad experience? this makes me feel like i should do some homework on the parts i got now...

Anyways, what about dickmillerracing? is this a fair and honest vendor?

Not sure what your complaint is.... You got something better than you paid for...? Ive bought several parts from them, used there engine rebuilder guide, and called them for tech assistance. Never had an issue. Joe is gone, so theres no mondello to run the business anymore. Hard to say whats going on there or if they are struggling because of Joes absence. Some on here have said that Mondello is a joke....but Ive never had an issue.....Just my .02

I don't have a complaint, did you miss the part " felt like they did me a favor" lol. And no i didn't get something better than what i paid for, i got what i paid for. I originally told them to send me the standard gasket set, without my consent they charged me for the high performance set and sent that. I didn't mind because...well hey, can't complain about better seals. It just struck me as alittle off, know what i mean?

I just want to know what everyones experiences are dealing with them, and if i should continue ordering parts. I've been duped a few times in the past few years by *ssh*les, and that's why my car still sits with no motor. I'd like to stop getting ****ed, and actually finish my project.

How did your engine turn out bill? Did all the parts hold up?

I didnt miss that part....just confused me. I didnt realize that they charged you more than what you had ordered. That doesnt fly in my book. My motor is fine, so far.....
It sounds like your frustration has hit the limit....and builds can be very frustrating if you are on a time line or trying to meet a deadline. In my case, I had neither, so I was seldom ever frustrated from outside...but impatient with my own progress was a different matter....lol. I would call them and ask why they sent you and charged you for something you didnt order.....see what they say.

To be honest i don't want to push the issue with mondello, in-case i do end up having to order more parts through them.
Like i said, i don't mind having a better set of gaskets if it pays off in the end. Plus i place this order 4 months ago, up until now i thought these guys had a spotless record in the hotrod world.

The only thing i'm concerned about are these head gaskets they sent me.

They are fel pro, part number 8507 PT. The guys at mondello told me they cryo treated these gaskets. Is it possible to do that with a head GASKET? Second, i looked up that part number and according to fel pro these gaskets are not for high performance use. Lastly, the gaskets are still in the original fel pro packaging, the guys at mondello said they just re vacuum package them. Doesn't sound far fetched, i hope not anyways.

25$ on summit, i payed almost 40$ / per gasket through mondello, which is justified IF they did treat them.

Bill what olds engine did you build? yeah i understand what you mean, my progress has been held up by dealing with crooked people and that's why i'm frustrated.

Complaints about Mondello's business practices have been ongoing for at least 10 years that I know of. In "the day", Joe was THE go-to olds guy. I've been out of the Olds game a long time now (miss my Rallye350 😢 ), but have read a lot of good things about dick miller.

Not sure why you'd cryo gaskets, but I'm not an engine builder. It would seem that gasket manufacturers spend a lot of money on R&D to achieve repeatable performance as-delivered...but I wouldn't use OR rule out the cryo set until I knew more about the whys and results.

Best just to stay away from Mond*ldo and Lynn all together. Doing business with him is like walking through a mine field. Your bound to step on a live one that will ruin your day.

Yeah, it's a shame they're dragging that name through mud. I'll shoot dick miller a call tomorrow and see if i can turn some info on why you would cryo treat a head gasket.

As for the head gaskets, There's no telling they actually did treat them.

EITHERWAY, i know 403's have problems with certain types of head gaskets. Will these seel core laminate gaskets hold up? I read on a few places about guys changing head gaskets annually with 403s :blam:

Is the head gasket still in the vacuum sealed Fel-Pro packaging? There is no way you'd be able to take the gasket it out and then repackage it without it being quite noticeable. A lot of the color will peel off when you open it. Personally i'd be pissed if I bought something and was given/charged a higher price. I don't care if it supposedly would have been better in the long run, that's not what I ordered. And now it sounds like they are giving you some song and dance about the gaskets.

I bought my heads, cam, and rocker assembly from Mondello's. Everything was good except the first time I received the wrong rocker assembly. After I sent that back I received the correct rockers but one of the nuts that came with it was ruined. I'm supposed to be getting a replacement nut in the mail from them but in between getting the correct parts was pretty bad. They kept trying to tell me that they had sent the correct assembly and I must have something else wrong.. :blam:
