Hi all, I'm sort of new ( super lurker).

I'm trying to make a decision on my 83 Monte LS. Keep the rocker chrome or delete it all (grind nubs down, plastic fill / patch rear bumper). I'm trying to see if anyone else has done this or if I'm just super crazy for wanting to try this. I can't picture it so does anyone have pictures of an LS without rocker chrome painted... maybe in a silver or charcoal? Thanks!

Alex

Dont grind them down cut them off with a set of these.

They work great and do not pull, warp or flex the panel.

Squeeze gently and twist while you cut them off. ( thanks Clutch!)

Thanks for the tip TURNA! I wouldn't have thought of that.

Still looking for pictures though if available.

Alex

This is an 88 had the molding on the center of door

No bondo just clipped and primed.

Hard to see though

I think the Monte LS looks so much sportier doing what TURNA did by removing all of that chrome.

I think so too.. I'm not a huge fan of an abundance of chrome on 80's looking cars. It just seems misplaced to me, especially on something built to be sporty. I think I'm going to clip this thing.. now I either have to find an old style SS bumper cover or fill the 8 holes on mine, as well as weld up the door holes for the rocker trim.

That would the '86 up "Euro" LS, the '81-'86 base cars bumper covers are flush with the fenders & quarters. Just need to fill in the trim holes on the covers & weld close the ones on the doors. The rear side markers would need the SS bezel trim, the fronts would be needing something made for them.

I get lost in the Monte Carlo year to year and option package changes even when I was selling used parts lol I know my olds tho

My 83' Monte came with the CL option so it had a lot of chrome and a half vinyl top, as you can see I removed the chrome and the vinyl top and did a couple other modifications while I was at it.😉
