Replacing the front springs (and everything else). Car was originally a v6 and now has a 1st gen small block. I'm replacing the stock v6 springs with v8, Moog 5602 springs and drop spindles.

Question is - my Moog springs are much taller without weight. Enough where I'm not sure how I will get them in yet. 2" longer at least.

Normal?

Got one, seems like I will have clearance issues though, maybe I have the wrong type.

Seems odd a stock replacement would be so much longer. Were the v6 springs just shorter?

the V6 springs you have are one coil less than the new springs so the old springs would have a higher spring rating. The moog 5602 has the lowest spring rating for the front spring in a G body

So taller but softer. 5602 is off memory as I can't find the receipt at the moment, but they are v8 springs. I thought no ac v8 springs.

Thanks for the help on the compressor guys. I get to buy another tool.

Be carefull when you use that spring compressor and make sure you line it up so it'll be close to the hole in the channel in the lower control arm.

Avoid using an impact to compress or release the spring compressor. I like to have the car on stands, under the frame. As you compress the spring, support the lower A-frame with a floor jack. Leave the hooks of the compressor in a coil or two or it will not be very easy (impossible) to remove once you release the spring pressure.

Recruit some help if you can.
