I seem to recall someone mentioning using a Mopar steering box in a G Body....

Just can't find the thread again~ Thanks

I might have mentioned it. I had referred to using a steering box out of a Jeep Cherokee. I'll have to find the article in Hot Rod Magazine. It apparently is a quick ratio box, but of course you'll have to replace the pitman arm with a G-body 800 series arm.

I believe that article is accessible ~ you know sometimes you just don't bookmark things & think it was......?

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean...😕 I'll find it eventually. It's a good article, too.

I found it...it's the July '14 issue of Hot Rod under Scrounger's Guide. It's not from a Cherokee, but from a '96-'98 first generation Grand Cherokee. It allegedly has the 12.7:1 ratio. This information should be helpful for anyone looking for that elusive quick ratio box out of a Monte SS, GN/ T-Type, 442, H/O, etc.

So do the lines work or do you need to change them? Also what about the pitman arm? Still need to change that?

It's a Saginaw box same as in the G body. All the boxes listed below are 12.7-1 and remember you can pick up a reman box for a little over $100. so depending on how much time you might spend hunting a used box down the reman price isn't bad

1984-'88 Monte Carlo/Malibu with Z65 suspension
1983-'88 Malibu, El Camino
1982-'92 Camaro except FE1 soft ride suspension
1984-'87 Regal with FE2 or FE3 sport suspension
1983-'84 Hurst/Olds
1985-'87 Cutlass with 5.0 (VIN code 9)
1982-'85 Trans Am
1986-'92 Firebird except FE1 suspension
1986-'87 Grand Prix with FE2 touring or F41 heavy duty suspension

The following compilation from this thread should become a 'sticky' in the "Knowledge Base' thread.....
