So my fan wasn't working so I went and got a new fan which actually works now.
While I was getting the fan I also got a fan shroud.
It fits and looks good.

But My problem is: when I get it up real quick to get her going I will stomp the gas, but she will die when i let off the gas.
It will normally die when I stop the car at lights or signs.
The lights will flicker sometimes, and I have a new battery and My alternator tested good.
I am also leaking a bit of oil from the (passenger side) valve cover.

I am just at a loss again, Cause I got her running good she will accelerating good adjusted the carb (was running rich), timed it, put the shims on and everything now these problems arise.

I am just getting close to giving this car away, We have a doctors appointment tomorrow for an ultrasound, Now we have no idea how were getting there cause the car wont make it.
That means 2 kids and my wife, so this car isn't ideal for them, it going trough these problems and us having absolutely no money and this being our only vehicle, is putting us in a terrible terrible situation now.

So if you can help as I know you all can and always have, I appreciate it and hope to fix it soon.
God Bless and thank you.

Well if it's cold, it could be due to an improper functioning choke. The lights dimming is very likely due to the car wanting to die so there's a momentary drop in voltage.
If it is the choke, it could be due to a few things that are not working properly. Perhaps a better description might help. Also, when started, will it die if you don't give it gas while it's idling or does it just die when you come to a stop/etc.?

Is the engine rpm always abnormally low/if the car is warming up, does it begin running at a higher rpm and then slow to a lower rpm?

Also, what carburetor does it have?

These questions might help to find an answer

No its only when I drive, i could start it let it idle and rev it to max rpms and it will go back down to 1000 and run perfectly fine, Its only when I drive it and stop.
No it will stay around 1000 at start up.
I would say it stays around 500 - 1000 rpms.
It is a edelbrock 1406.

it may be your accelerator pump. my old holly did the same thing because that pump was broken.

I just took my valve covers off cause of the ticking noise, All my rockers but maybe two are loose.
So I am going to tighten them a bit.
There is also light brown mud like substance that seems weird to me, I will try to take some photos of it so you all can understand/see what I am talking about.
But I was wondering how tight should they be, i know to where they don't move of course but I don't want to tighten them so much they are hard to push.
So when I tighten them will this stop the oil leakage from the valves?

My '72 Olds 350 is 25 ft. lbs. for the rocker arm pivot bolt to head. Per the '72 Olds chassis service manual.

Check your oil galleys on each end of the heads to see if there clear. This maybe causing your oil to pool up.

The light brown substance might be hulmosified oil. Meaning moisture in the oil. I would wipe it out and keep an eye on it.

Okay thank you so much, I am getting on that now.
I will check everything, I was going to wipe them out anyways cause it didn't seem right to me.
But again thanks and I am going out now to get everything done.

Good luck and still take the picture of the mud.

Your chevy rockers ARE NOT TORQUED like an olds. You tighten to take lash out. I don't have time at this moment to tell ya how to do it, just wanted to save you from messing sh*t up. Check on google, bunch of how to's on lashing valves. If you don't understand I'll be logged on later and can probably help.
