Hey Bigge, I Know You Have A Baby Girl On The Way. So Money Will Be Tight, But What Is Your Budget, Machining Of The Block Could Cost 600.00 Plus Depending On What You Get Done To It. Back In Feb 09, Machining On My SBC 350 To Bore It .030 Over Cost Me About $843.00, But I Had It Cleaned, Painted, New Cam Bearings Installed, Mains Alligned, New ARP Rod Studs Installed, New Freeze/Brass Plugs. I Thought It Was A Good Deal, You May Be Better Just Buying Voodoo Cam And Calling It A Day For Now, And Save Up Cash To Have It Bored And Updated Later. Hope All Is Well And Good Luck On Your Cutty! -- El

whats your budget like? which voodoo cam were you thinking? what trans and rear gears do you plan on going with? whats the current condition of the motor? if you can swing it i say full rebuild top to bottom. you cant put a price on piece of mind. what years the 350? heads?

also i am planing on getting some 3.23 rear end gears for it

if its all stock i.e. compression, manifolds, valves, springs, rockers, torque converter, etc. id say go for the smallest voodoo cam, the 60800. it'll be a pretty nasty mismatch with a big cam such as the ones you have in mind. its generally better to under cam a street car rather than over cam it, you'll hate driving it otherwise and it'll feel like a dog. even with headers, better springs, valves, better compression, rockers and induction i wouldnt go much larger than the voodoo 60801 or 60802 cams in a 350. especially if you plan on driving the car frequently..... i dont know about elongating the rockers but i'm sure you'd need properly sized pushrods

from what i understood , i can run about anything under .500 on stock rockers, and im liking the specs of the 60801, and its only 188 for the cam and lifters.

the 60801 would be the highest i would personally go with a fresh stock set up. dont forget your motors 40 years olds, the valve trains probably all original and pretty well worn so take that into consideration. i still say youd be very happy with the 60800... yes .500 is kind of a mile marker as far as cam lift and valvetrain issues but why push the limit on a stock worn in motor, you'd be asking for trouble. i vote save the 60801 or 60802 cam for when you rebuild with better compression and fresh parts. besidess anythings better than a 307 so why open a can of worms.

this guy at work is tellin me to get a voodoo cam closer to the specs of the mondello jm2022...but the lift on the mondello is alot, and he also said to just put the cam in the stock setup, clean it up, put it in , get a rear end with 3.23 and drive the hell outta it..i think it sounds good, i just dont no which one lol 60800 or 60801

the jm-20-22 is a little big for a stock low compression 350 maybe a stock big block it would be nice but not so much for a small block. stock SBO cams had something like .400 intake and exahaust lift and some ridiculously low duration. a stock motor with headers and intake minimum would like the smallest voodoo cam and you wouldnt have to worry about sh*t blowing up, crappy performance from being a potential mismatch. dont take my opinion as the gospel so keep researching the subject, research is your best friend and it never hurts to know too much. doubleV, who's on the forum has a nice stockish 350 set up in his 85 442 that has the smallest voodoo cam and it runs respectale numbers.
