I never had any luck with accel. I used the msd cut to fit 8.5 wires for the last 15 years. Had no issues making almost 1000 hp with them.

I never had much luck with aftermarket wires. I just use AC Delco tailored wires now .

Which series of ACDelco is "tailored"? I've used a set of the "professional" ones on a Chevrolet, they were much better than the Duralast ones they replaced which went bad after a couple years.

One wire could have used a couple inches more in length. I believe cylinder #3. Seems like it will pull itself apart and misfire eventually.

I've also heard about Autolite wires being good, but don't believe they exist anymore, and I've had no luck with Autolite plugs at all.

I've never had luck with a set of wires fitting the way I want out of the box. Made one set, that helped. This last time, I actually just bought two sets to have enough of the correct length, it worked out great and was much cheaper and easier...

I have used a few. The Accel wires now are actually a lot better than they were 20 years ago, they were junk back then. My current Accel 25 ohm 8.8 wires are the best I have ever owned. They are now discontinued. I had the MSD Superconductor wires crack twice from heat. The Summit universal 7mm set was decent quality. The Moroso stuff since the family sold the company is now no longer US made products. Moroso pan's for example are now junk.

Taylor or Delco.
Olds plugs are above the exhaust ports, so header heat shouldn't be a concern. Unless, it's actually a Chevy, of course.

It's a 307 Olds. I know the manifolds are down low, plugs are well above, just wanted to be extra cautious.

I have the Accel set (4053 I believe is the part#). They don't have the knobs on the cap side terminals. I ordered AC Delco Professionals (9608B), but the picture I see for them isn't showing the knob either.

The knob may not mean much to some, but it's extra insurance so that the retainer on the cap does its job.

I'm seeing that now, but pictures of the Accel wires showed it too when I got them a couple years ago (and they, in fact, do not have them).

Which Taylor set would be best to use on an HEI small block Olds? The part# I see is 64604, but people apparently used them on SBC, BBC, and BBO engines. Combine that with the 135-degree boots, I'm at a loss as to how they fit all those different engines so well, especially being a pre-made wire set.

Maybe someone can elaborate or steer me in the direction for another part#.
