I used the holley mounts running a 04 5.3 and the truck manifold clears. From what l have read, some set the motor higher than others, this is the first Ls engine that l have worked with and would like to use the truck intake with cover if possible ! Thanks. Rod
Why not use the best kit available? The Holley mounts will put your engine in its lowest possible position with correct driveshaft angles. Truck accessories will fit fine with no cutting. A new member here used some off brand kit (muscle rod?) and had to cut the bracing on the bottom of his Elco hood because engine position was higher. Thanks,l have a cowl hood which may help a little. Why run the ugly truck intake manifold? I built an 81 Coupe deVille with a 2013 L96 several years ago. I used the LS3 intake manifold. i ma using the same setup in my 93 S10 Blazer, just a newer L96 (2018). All the parts. throttle body, manifold, fuel rail and injectors are available from Rock Auto for about $800.00 (purchased nearly a year ago).I am installing a 2013 l96 in my 87 elcamino, would run the truck intake with cover if possible, adding a trick flow cam and headers, controling with a Holley ecm. Are there mounts that would allow this to work, using a 4l80e trans. Thanks. Rod
Ugly is a matter of opinion. People including me use the truck intake because it flows better than the LS3 intake. It’s been proven on the dyno that the truck intake performs better. If you shave The truck intake it looks really good. In fact I like it’s appearance better than the low profile car Intakes and you don’t have to spend $800 for LS3 parts and the FEAD. That $800 can be better spent on other performance upgrades. LS3 Camaro and Corvette parts come at a premium while you can buy truck FEAD parts at your local pick and pull for next to nothingWhy run the ugly truck intake manifold?
