Hey guys, just looking for some opinions on Motormounts. I've had a very hard time to get the OE style mounts to line up on my Malibu wagon. Got them in after a fight lol. Couple years later they need replacing, trying to do the same again but now I just can't get the motor to line up. I was wondering how would solid mounts work and feel? Has anyone else experienced this problem with a G body?
Thanks guys.

Did you match the holes for the previous set? One mount hole/corner hangs over the edge of the crossmember for a Chevy V8.
If you are dropping the motor in and it's soooo close, but not dropping in to the ears on the mounts, reach in with a long prybar and lever the rubber part contains the bolting sleeve upwards and outwards. I've had this we're the weight of the motor was pushing them down and together.

It also helps to have the bolts to the motor mount snug, but not fully tightened down. Allows the mount to "wiggle" a little.
Do this for motor and transmission mounts and it will go so much better for you.

I lined them up correctly, I did everything with the pry bar. Worked last time I did it but not this time. I'm going to mess with it again in

Interesting. I might have to try that.

If you go with solid motor mounts, remember to get a solid transmission mount too. if you don't, you will probably break a transmission case or tailshaft housing when it is put under hard load.

Hey Turna, why do you cut that ear off the mount?
