I just acquired an 1985 Oldsmobile cutlass and the power seat doesn't move and only clicks. Is there a temporary way to move the seat seat because it's up pretty far. And also what is the problem all controls work but doesn't move only clicks

Pull the seat out and see why the motor won't work. When you push on the switch, it is both engaging the motor as well as a clutch for whatever function you chose. So say you want "up", the "up" gear engages (clicks) and the motor turns on at the same time. Could be as simple as a cruddy ground wire.

Does it tilt or go up/down? If it does any of those things then you have a seat transmission problem. If it just clicks for all adjustments than you probably have a broken spool connector that connects the motor to the transmission. G-body parts has a reproduction spool you can buy to fix this.

Upon closer inspection the coupling is till intact but the transmission housing for the seat is cracked
