I know this does not mean that they are going out of business. They will probably get bought out by someone else. Kind of like how Barry Grant did a couple years ago which ended up being bought out by Holley.

But its still crazy to see a big name company like them file Chapter 11.

That IS odd. But I also know that their stuff is being pirated by Chinese crooks.

Chapter 11 is a protection against creditors while the company reorganizes. Chapter 7 is a liquidation of the company.

and for those in China who read this forum...
第11章是公司进行重组时,对债权人的保护。第7章清算公司。

They just had an article in Hot Rod about how to tell the fakes from the real ones.

But even MSD went with the Chinese product line "Street Fire".

What about that blue/silver ignition box with the GM logo? Looks a lot like an MSD 6.

I bought one of these and returned it cause it was made in china.....the owner of the store was surprised cause he said the chinese stuff always had a different prefix

It sucks when a company starts cutting corners like that. And trys to sell the Off Shore crap under a good name.

At work we were having trouble with Edelbrock Carbs. They were constantly flooding out. We replaced needle and seats, etc. and couldnt figure it out. We called the main Tech guy there and he said that all their carburetors are manufactured over seas (Not China) by Magnetti Morelli but then assembled here. He said that those must have been an older batch because now they actually bought out the Magnetti Morelli plant in the US and now their carbs are 100% built in the USA. Never a problem again.
