That looks like someone chopped off the Y pipe and did a bad weld to dual exaust to coble it together I also noticed the crimped pipe on the other side to clear the cross member I'm guessing someone took the cheeper way out to do dual exhaust. Can you weld? It looks pretty restrictive so down the road I would upgrade without seeing it in person it looks like it can be cobbled together with a 90 or even just temporarily welded but down the road I would say 1 get a dual exhaust cross member 2 maybe headers or just a dual exhaust kit there are kits available for cars with manifolds but headers improv performance however when installing them you will need to be creative with brackets depending on what engine you are running

size you think the factory style pipe is
I was thinking about buying these headers but I don't know what size to get

Fyi, i have a set of gently used (maybe 2 hrs of runtime) hedman #68600's. They came black....i had them ceramic coated but baked the coating on 1st fireup by accident. They are 1-5/8" primaries, 3" collectors that use the ball/socket flange. They don't have the collector to exhaust fitting....unless i chop them off the exhaust. PM me if interested.

I like those Hedman with the ball and socket, no gaskets to blow out. The only thing I would do to them is to cut off the flange and put a flange on that has more meat on it. I cut a beefy flange in half then welded it back together

Steve, are you referring to the flange that bolts to the head, or the collector?
I know the hedman elite series come with a 3/8" flange at the head...that's what my brother n law has on his 468 BBC. If you mean the collector flange, i totally agree! They are pretty wimpy and being beefed up would help. However, i never had an issue out of them....going LS I don't need them now and need to sell them for more part $$$.

The collector, the flange at the head is great, after 4 summers it's as flat as it was when new
