private. these were mint. just a luck of the draw

thats cool, I am always worried they are scratched up more than the pics can show or they are warped/bent

thats a sweet ride i love the 78 and 79 the most i like the header panel set up and of course the tail lights on the 78 . is the 442 rear a 7.5 ring gear . i threw the G/N in mine i hear the 8.5 is a bit stronger also i scored one for 800.00 with 17,000 miles on it eventually going to throw in 390 gears

thank you! honestly i don't quite know about the 442 all i know that it is a direct swap and that is what i am most interested in

if i am not mistaken i think the 442 and monte ss have the same rears and with the G/N rear with the th350 the driveshaft had to be shortened by about 1" the rear also is direct bolt in for those who didnt know

Sadly, the MCSS came with the horrid 7.5, not the 8.5 like it's Regal and Cutlass stablemates when equipped with the performance package.

so now i am lost, which rears are direct bolt in's that will get me away from my one-wheeled wonder? and some taller gears considering mine has like none

try and find a 12 bolt from a 66 chevelle, it will bolt right in you'll just have to change the backspacing on your rims.

Well, you want shorter gear ( numerically higher). You can get another 7.5 is strength does not concern you. I have one from a V6 Regal with 3.23 gears in mine. You can also put a posi in either the 7.5 or 8.5. However, if you want the 8.5 posi, you will need one from an 84-88 442 or turbo Regal that has posi. Posi was not standard in any G body, it was always an option ( coded G80).

awesome, thanks for the help
