I thought the turbo montys were rarer than the aero coups, is that correct?

Growing up and working in the auto body industry I have never seen a turbo monte. I have painted three of the aeros. Think they made 36000 total between 80&81 or the turbos

Probably true. I don't have the #'s in front of me but the Aero's were produced to compete in Nascar so they had to make like 1,600 + a year roughly.

I would have to look it up again, but I belive in 1980 there were 16000 built and 1981 there were 7000 built. 81 is a lot more collectable. 80 Monte Carlo is a one year only front end. The turbo engine was the highest horsepower engine option in 80 with 175 horsepower. People did not like them because of the turbo lag.

GM built 200 aerocoupes in 1986, and if my memory serves me, they built around 7,000 of them in 1987.

Slowly but surely this monte is coming back to life. Working on this car helps keep me distracted from the nightmare I'm going through with the upholstery on my regal. Man I love G body's lol.

according to beforeblack.net, In 1980 they produced 13,839 turbo MC's and in 1981 the number was 3,027.
nice score. i worked for a chevy dealer '84-88 and remember working on an '80 turbo mc. i had to replace the down pipe between then turbo and cat conv., man that sucked.

Not yet, still need to bleed the brakes and do a rough alignment. Probably this weekend .
