Keep up the GREAT work! Its lookin good. Dont worry about using second hand parts. Nobody will be able to tell. You got that engine lookin like new. I can't wait to see the finished product. Let me know if I can help with anything.
Thanks! Everything was going good until I got my own garage & I started tearing it all the way apart lol. Its in the garage on jackstands & I'm about to take the engine & trans back out & do a little surgery. I really want to pull the body off the frame & build it all the way back up but that will take up too much time & I'm trying to ride this summer. I'm not worried about putting used parts on the car as long as they work good. I love finding used parts because that's one less thing I have to buy new & more money going to other parts of my build. Wish I could afford to buy everything new though...
I know it has been a while since I updated this thread but here is how shes looking now. Once we moved into our new house I pulled it into the garage & started tearing apart to do a frame off build because that's what I really wanted in the first place.
I removed the ignition switch cut off the spot where it was & fiberglassed/smoothed it out since I'm going push button start & will not need it anymore
I tore it all the way apart
Bought this engine & kicked the other one to the curb. I may use it on another build if I dont get spoiled with the LS engines lol. I switched the intake & the front end to the car set up.
I threw the frame on my work truck & took it to get notched for my wheels, the LS1 oil pan & the low mount A/C compressor
I tried to clean up the frame myself but I was too much. I couldnt hit all of those hard to reach spots so I threw it back on the truck & dropped it off to the blaster. They will take care of it for me!
While the frame was gone that day, I took the belly down to metal, sprayed a couple coats of Chassis Saver on it then added some undercoating for additional protection.
Once i picked it up from the blaster I hit the fresh metal with a couple coats of Chassis Saver, painted up my engine block, control arms, trailing arms, spindles & calipers.
Test fitting the rear end with wheels & doing some measuring
I swapped the originals for the Blazer spindles to mount my Corvette brakes up front. I purchased some brackets & made a few mods to get another set of front C5 Vette calipers on the rear. I could have purchased an aftermarket kit but I wanted to do something a little different. I also added the drilled/slotted rotors.
Patiently waiting...
Her she is with the engine & trans mounted. The crossmember is only there temporarily & that rear end is not the one I'm using
Thats all I have for now. Hope you guys enjoy the pics!!!
