dougfather, don't think there is any such thing as a dumb question. Not sure if the bumpers are plastic but I think they are more of a Urethane rubber bumper. Its been a while since I sold my Grand Prix but I think the material u are thinking of is a harder plastic. I am not sure if the Grand Lemans/Lemans (grand am also uses the same design) would follow the same lines as your Grand Prix. My front bumper is the same piece all the way to the hood....I'll go shot a couple pic's for ya
Matt

My GP is 2 piece - the chrome bottom and the urethane top. I know the rest of the body is the different between Lemans and GP, but I could check to see how much different the 2 bumpers are. Funny thing is that 81 Lemans front nose is more "aerodynamic" (and I use the term lossely) than the 84 GP.

Ya looking at the picture of the front of your car its hard to say how close they would be. U also have that bump in the fender that matches the molding on the bumper. Woulder if you could pull the whole front clip and make it work?? SOpose anything is possible 🙂 I personally don't mind the GP front end 🙂 Kinda wish I never sold mine

Ooh, these are pretty!

Matt, your cars look fabulous! Looking at your two cars remind me how I got hooked on these models. In around 1989-1990, I bought from a friend (who was moving away) a 1981 LeMans two-door in a nice medium blue with a dark blue vinyl top. It had the Chevy V-6, 229 cu.in. and was a joy to drive. I started to take a notice to these cars and soon discovered the differences in the grilles and tail-lights. A local garage was scrapping a 1978 Grand LeMans Safari wagon as the camshaft went (267 cu.in.)and the transmission (TH200) went. For dirt cheap, I salvaged the perfect 78 front and converted the 81 to look like the 78 and repainted the car in the 78 wagon blue (loved that colour). I also changed the bench seat to buckets and console in the dark blue and located a Chevy 350/Thurbo 350. Shortly after that I noticed the rear framerails rotting and sold the car. Back then, we had no internet and shortly after selling the car, my monthly Car Review magazine featured an article on the Pontiac Grand Am and showed 78 Grand Am. Wow, I had never seen one before and didn't know they existed. Question....do you have the option of removing the front license plate? I always disliked that location. Don.

Matt's cars are what finally convinced me to swap an 81' nose on my Bonnewagon. His are beyond clean and I liked the 81' best of all. I hated the plate location too, here's where I put it.

Wow!! Nice cars. I don't know how I missed them... :?

Is that a Fiat Topolino in the background?

I thought it was an Anglia. Both are super rare.

Love them Lemans !

I messed up 4 years ago and didn't buy a 78' off a fellow at work for $300.00 minus motor/trans.Had bench seat and column shifter.Great body, trunk and one bad rear floor pan.Was a fact. v8 car.

I think he crushed it 2 years ago 😢 .

do as i did and put 78 tail lights in the 81, and black the grill out. they look like sh*t from the factory
