At least you will be around 8 to 1 with thick head gaskets and stock pistons. Stock cam? It will be a nice upgrade over the 305, at any rate.

I have .30 over flat top piston's with the stock cam only reason I got those piston I found them for cheap at a friend of my grandfather's machine shop.

Aah should have freshened the 305  , cool car although I might be biased, the under coating you used is paintable, I did the bottom of my car with it to kind of refresh the factory black and then reduced gloss black Rust Oleum paint and gun sprayed it over top after it sat a day, it's been a while since I did it and it still looks good. Oils and road grime stick to that undercoat bad without a top coat just some thoughts

That 305 gave me all type of h*** I always wanted to have a complete olds car anyway ill add parts as i go but thank you for the tip i wanted to spray a coat of flat black over it but wasn't sure about it.

Thanks I think i'll feel a major difference behind the wheel well i hope i do.

You will be around 9 to 1, mild cam would really wake up that motor. What timing chain did you use?

I went with the comp cam 2113 double roller set and how mild like what size cam?

The stock cam is plain awful. Under 200 duration and .400/.402 lift. Even a cam like a generic 204/214 .448/.472 cam is a step up and cheap. I put mine in the advanced position on my Cloyes timing set. My car is strong with 7.9 to 1, your car should be much stronger, why neuter it?

Ill see what i can find and advanced setting you mean like cam degree setting it?

Yes, cam degree. It is best to degree the cam with a degree wheel to make sure your timing set is accurate. It is much easier to change the cam out of the car.
