BUILD THREAD my first G body

So after building a few c10-c30 trucks and a few 50's, 60's cars i finally pulled the trigger and bought me Malibu, I've never owned a Gbody but have worked on plenty of them.

so i found one in my home state and bought it, this is the description from the seller...


-The engine is a ZZ4 crate engine with Fast Burn heads & LT4 HOT cam. Induction is an Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap with a Holley 770 Street Avenger vacuum secondary carb.
-The Fuel System consists of a Holley Black fuel pump and regulator going to an AeroQuip dual feed line.
-Ignition is Performance Distributors HEI/ MSD wires. GMPP mini starter
-The rear end is from a 1986 Buick Grand National/8.5". The gears are 3.73 precisions turning an Auburn posi/TA rear cover.
-The transmission is a TCI 700 R4/(4L65 specs) coupled to a re-stalled L35 converter. The drive shaft is a shortened GN unit.
-Exhaust is 1"3/4 Hooker Super Comp headers, 2.5" Torque Tech dual with dual cut-outs/Flowmaster mufflers.
-MTS double hump cross member
-Rear suspension is Hotchkis boxed rear trailing arms.
-The front suspension is Hotchkis tubular upper A arms, The lower A arms have polyurethane bushings. The spindles are BellTech 2" drop spindles
-The lowering springs are Hotchkis 1" drop progressive rate.
-Steering box is an F41 unit.
-Shocks are Re-valved Bilsteins
-Sway bars are Herb Adams 1" 1/4 front, 1.5" rear
-Wheels are 1974 15x8 Corvette Ralleys. The fronts are 1968 Camaro ralleys. 235/60-15 rears, 215/65-15 fronts. Extra 15x8s come with BFG drag radials.
-Trunk mounted battery

The car is medium Sand stone metallic(brown). Originally a 229/THM 350C/AC car.
It has a bunch of miles, Trans needs to be gone through. More rust than is feasible to fix.

so once the car arrived i took it a for a few spins and started to take it apart..

so I'm missing a bunch of pics here that i will post later, but here are some updates

i got a set of bucket MC ss bucket seats and rear seat, center console and had then re done in black vinyl, and i cleaned and painted the door panels

fast forward a few weeks, i picked up a set of 15x4.5 and 15/10 draglites and i started to notch the frame

so here are some more updates, here are the floors cut out to see what i needed to get

after a few trips to the junkyard, i got every piece of sheetmetal i needed
floors pans, lower quarter panel, roof drip rail section

and here is another local purchase i made, front and back fiberglass bumpers

and a all steel GM stamped cowl hood

here are some updates, pulled the GN 8.5 rear end out and the hotchkis upper and lowers and uppers and the Herb adams front and rear sway bars, fuel pump filter and gas tank

so i painted the sway bars and the rear with rustoleoum hammertone grey and the gas tank with black hammer tone

ok so after a tare down and re build of the rear this is where im at now, i resealed the rear, and upgraded to a 98+ chevy blazer rear disc brake set up

so i finished notching the other side of the frame, here it is with a fresh coat of undercoat

ok i know its been a while,so i added some jounce bars

and started working on the floors will get more pics later but here are some

after that i stripped all the glass and started to do the body work

ok so before people start asking about the sunroof laying on the top of the car, the previous owner put a pop up moon roof and i never licked it so i decided to put a power sunroof from a honda civic coupe since it the closest to the opening i already have.

and i finally did a text spray on the color that the car will be painted

here are some more updates, so we pulled the hood, trunk and doors out and focused on the last bit of rust that was left.
