3000 miles in 3 days. finishing with an extra hour of white knuckling it thru a snow storm in minnesota. i am still brain dead.i don't know how otr truckers do it.
i appreciate all the comments.
the trip went well, the PO was very accommodating, i rolled in about 1am and slept till morning. he provided home made polzole soup that his mother-in-law fixed up. i never had this before, it was fantastic. he helped me get the car ready for towing and gave me a box of fresh lemons and organic eggs to take home. top notch hospitality.
the car is as rust free as you can get. it has been tagged in the left front corner, the header was repaired but not perfect. but the wood grain is something else, the left front fender looks the best, all the rest looks like the PO before the him put sections of woodgrain tape over the original woodgrain. so it looks like planks, or hard wood flooring. in the spring i'll take a heat gun to it and see what i find underneath. the headliner needs attention as well as the lower interior door panels due to dry rotting. surprisingly, all the interior pillar trim is ok. its equipped with the 305 4bbl auto and 2.41 or 2.56 gears.
my plan for this summer is to drive it and enjoy it. after that, who knows.

Glad the trip was a success, Joe, and that you made it home without incident. Wow!! 3000 miles in 3-days is a lot of miles. I'd be beat to death.
