The next order of business is to open these holes for ventilation purposes

I got the case holes opened up today. I didn't window the whole thing because aluminum isn't as strong as iron. I may get some pooling of oil in the mid- plate, but it's better than nothing. Now, you can see how these holes allow pressure out of the vent. I had to tune the bore register with a file, so it went together smoothly (fixing my hamfisted screwups). Anyhow, things are rolling along. Should work normal when done..

Also, knocked the ridge off the output shaft

Got the rebuild kit yesterday. It didn't come with the aluminum plug for the countershaft pin, so I have to get one of those. I also discovered more damage from my screw up:

The cage is ballooned, so I think I'll see if I can get one with the plug.
I knocked the glaze off the gear cones with some 150 grit and oil.

Then, fired up the parts washer, and gave everything a good cleaning. I've got the bolts and small parts soaking in carb dip.

I noticed some heat bluing (foreground of pic) on the 4th gear slider and shift fork; don't know what that's all about.....

Was just about to have a panic attack because I JUST KNEW I had a bottle of Mobil 1 75-90 syn in the cabinet. Then, I realized I had moved the gear oil to a different shelf, and found 3 1/2 qts of..... SCORE!!!!!

Hockey puck all the things! The thin wall exhaust tubing and socket method kept shifting and popping out of the press. Insert mmmmmmmm rubber biscuit here:

AutoGear gives 3 different thickness Hog rings for the mid bearing. This was my downfall the last time with the sleeve not being pressed on enough and I don't think I got this ring on right. She's tighter than a nun's twat now. Ended up using the middle thickness ring.
