the engine will not fit in there with the headers bolted up (full length) i tried and was unsuccessful with my hooker comps. it didnt clear the steering shaft. also i find it better to put the engine in with the transmission already bolted to it. i use a leveling bar and its a cinch.

hey just some more updates, i got the front end all together minus the brake lines and sway bar, no brakes yet. as of now i am boxing in the rear lower trailing arms, and strengthening up the top ones with washers. i have to run fuel line and put the rear end in.

AWESOME.
Makes me happy too because I'm building a similer engine with 11:1 pistons.
I plan on sheading like 500lbs off the car if i can aswell.
12 seconds would be awesome! 😀

Nice car, Get a 12 bolt or build a 9 inch, then youll never have to worry about a rearend again.

alright, i finally got a digital camera!!! i took these pics yesterday, and i will start to primer it over the weekend minus the doors, i am trying to locate better ones so i do not need to spend 30 hours making them strait again. my rear end is in as you can see, but i need to get new tank straps and run my new fuel line. the rims on the car now are weld pro stars, but i am also looking to get some kind of rally wheel just to run around town on.

About the fuel system. You have a benefit with the gbodys that they don't have in any of the old school cars. Gbodys came with fuel injection ie there are baffled fuel tanks with hangers set up for in-tank electric pumps. The intank pump set ups are cheaper, quieter, more reliable, and do not leave you with a crash hazzard hanging between your tank & bumper. Compare to an electric gravity fed out of tank pump & sump or cell. You can get an old tank and hanger off an 84-87 Buick GN/Ttype or an 86/7 Monte with the FI 4.3. You can also get brand new GN aftermarket tanks off ebay for $190. You can even modify a regular hanger to hold your pump instead of just a pick up but then you are into welding. Check out www.robertpowersmotorsports.com for this. You can get a new plug & play pump from www.racetronix.com click the Buick GN link. If memory serves me one pump supports up to 600HP. The pump has a filter sock but you can also add a cheap in line filter from an early 90s TBI f-body available at any autoparts cheap. You need a return style fuel pressure regulator I used Malory 4309 available at Summit/jegs/Northernautoparts etc and to add an inexpensive metal return line also available at jegs etc. Most people bolt the regulator to the intake so they have a short line going from the regulator to the carb. I put a T in this line and added a line and fuel pressure guage that I could leave under my hood or put under my windshield wiper to watch my fuel pressure through a wot pass.

That engine sure is purrty. Can't wait to see the end result.

i finally got my x member and my torque converter. i went with a hughes 12 inch 2800 stall, i sorta wish i went with a 10inch, but its done already. The best thing out of all of this is the tach! I love tachs and putting them in, that means you are getting close to done!! i know its nothing special, but its always fun getting new stuff!

i also have a new fuel tank all painted up all nice that is ready to go in!, its not in primer yet, i am searching for new doors!
