Hello. I have noticed that my RPM's running high. I was on the interstate yesterday and they were about 5k at 70mph. Do I have transmission issues going on? Is there a way I can check to see if they are correct? I asked a mechanic he said it's ok but I'm not convinced it is. I have a stock 307 olds in my 1984 cutlass calais. Thanks for any input on this.

I would agree with you. Something is amiss. I have a th400 with a 3.50 gear. At 3k rpm I'm at 60 mph. Sound like your OD is not kicking in. What transmission do you have? 2004r?

Only had the car a few months. Not really sure what trany I have but everything is metric and looks stock. Is there additional plug for OD or is my trany going?

Depends on the transmission. Some have a electric lock out, some manual with the tv cable. Identify the transmission first and check to make sure your tv cable, if equipped, is connected. Proceed cautiously, don't want to exacerbate the issue.

Don't mean to sound dumb but.....how do I find out what transmission I have? Does the bolt count on the pan identify it?

This will identify your transmission

If i had to just guess out of the blue you either have a th200, th350, or 2004r

No problem

Are you hitting 3rd gear on the highway?
