Anyone know what this is?

It comes out of a wiring line in front of the carb. You can see the electrical deal coming out of the thermostat on the front of the engine, so that should give an idea of exactly where it is. I have an 86 GP, same year 305 engine and carb.

All the electrical stuff (I know of) on my carb or engine is connected. No idea where this goes, unless it's to nowhere. According do my Pontiac service manual, all the electrical fittings around the engine are accounted for. Then again, my service manual also shows a vacuum port that my carb doesn't have, so it could be wrong. The only thing it somewhat reminds me of is the connector for an electric choke.

It looks like the lead that goes to a solenoid on the carb to increase the idle when the AC is on. Not all motors/models used the solenoid but the connection is usually there in the harness. If one of those wires goes to the AC clutch connection and the other goes to the pressure switch on the accumulator, then that's what it is.

yeah, that looks like its for the solenoid.I had asked the same question to myself a while ago when i had the 307 in my cutlass. The manual says it is for the solenoid on the 307 HO motors, but the stock VIN Y 307s still had that connector sticking out.

I thought it was test point to connect the dwell meter when adjusting the feedback carb's solenoid dwell, or something like that....

You are correct. That's a test connector. You can connect a normal dwell meter (using the six cylinder scale) and read the mixture control solenoid dwell. This is how you set the idle mixture without a scan tool.
