Ritter, its a question because the seller swears its the stock motor from his 89 full-size crewcab and is a 350. I don't want to get taken in a sale... So I'm asking wiser people than me. I'm gonna measure the bores, but sadly am expecting them to be 3.75 rather than 4.00...
Yea, I wasn't trying to sound like a jerk there... I just don't know much about this and am looking for a way to prove he is trying to take me for a ride. Hopefully tomorrow he will send me a pic of the casting number.

I hate hearing about people getting taken advantage of and wouldn't want that to happen to ya. I would go measure it (if it's local) and make sure to let the guy know he is wrong if it really is a 307 block 8)
Tell him to give you the code off the back of the block. By the way 100 bucks for a bare block is way too much in my opinion. You should be able to find a complete 350 core for that price. Atleast a shortblock core.
Edit: Dont even mess with it, look elsewhere. It isn't a 350 per the suffix code. The block needs atleast a bore and who knows what else if it OVERHEATED AND CRACKED A CYLINDER HEAD. It could of very well messed the block up too. So just save your dollars and look elsewhere.
another option you may want to consider is on kijiji, in my area anyway, quite often there is someone who has the a short block or a complete engine already built and has decided to go another direction
The original owner is right, but just isn't looking hard enough. This is what I get for that suffix code:
Code Year CID Vehicle HP RPO Trans Carb Comments
TPB 71 307 Truck 200 L-14 2-Brl GMC
TPB 89 350 Truck 210 L-05 TBI
TPB 92 350 Truck 210 L-05 TBI Van
This is one of those deals where the code was used more than once and needs to be matched with a casting number to narrow it down. Also that year block will have 5.7 cast into to help you.
