I have a 79 Caballero in great shape and has been running great. Tried to start it this morning and it wouldn't start, after talking to my grandfather i think it may be the ignition switch but im not sure how to figure out if thats what it is. If anyone has any idea how to see if thats what the problem is let me know!! When i turn it to the on" point no lights light up then when i turn it to the start point they all light up but the car doesnt start. This car has all the plugs for the ignition switch not the other kind. Please let me know how to find out whats going on! thanks! 🙁

Start by checking for voltage at the starter solenoid when some on is trying to crank it if your not getting a signal then check the ing switch .Good luck

Sounds like the switch might have moved on the column. When you turn the key a rod actuates the switch farther down. Try jumping the starter to verify it works. If so, remove the panels covering the column and the 15mm nuts holding it up. The switch is on the top and the dimmer is piggybacked on top of that. Both are held in place by 2 tiny screws. First try moving the switch and see if it works. If so then tighten the screws so it starts in the right position. Also be sure the ACC works, moving it too far disrupts that too. If switch is broken, just replace and adjust as described.

could you ever start it and if so when you do do you have to try and start butcount like 1...2.. then when you let off the key it starts
