What's up guys, u got a 84 cutlass supreme. My question is why is my heat not working, or what can I check? The blower motor comes on, but cold air comes out. It's full of anti freeze, but what concerns me is the radiator had a lot of rust in it. I was wondering if maybe the heater coil is clogged up or what else can I check. I don't want to flush the radiator out right now because I'm broke lol. I don't have the money for antifreeze or to pay a shop to do it. What can I check to try to make my car blow out heat?
Thanks

make sure the heater valve is working and check the pressure side and return side of the heater hoses for heat, they should be almost the same. If the return side is alot cooler then the pressure side the heater core is plugged. If it is you can try to back flush it to try to clear it out

heater valve is in the heater hose and back flush is merely running the fluid the opposite way in the heater core

I've been messing with it trying to figure it out, both heater hoses are hot when I let my car idle but still no heat. So I assume the heater core isn't clogged up because both hoses are warm, that's telling me it's going through. Also when I try to change position of the vints, it just keeps blowing on the floor. Could that be something to do with it?

yes that is probably it. The controls work with vacuum so make sure the vacuum lines are connected.

We'll just checked my vacuum lines earlier, checked the cable that goes to the door behind the glove box, checked the coolant level and topped it off. Still no heat.
What else can I check?

now when you say you checked the vacuum lines, did you check the ENTIRE length of them or just where they connect, only reason i ask, is cause my bu had me stumped on a heat issue, and i didnt check the entire line.... and come to find out the cheap tiny brittle CRAPTASTIC lines chevy used for the heat get ridiculously brittle and it doesnt take much to crack them...

When I adjust the vent settings I don't hear anything changing, I checked the vacuum line around the engine.the wheel that chooses what vacuum line it wants (moving the vent settings) moves behind the dash so I know it's not stuck or anything.

What's the best way to check the complete vacuum lines? Spray carb cleaner on them all?
