Need help matching heads to cam

I say in the 180 to 190 cc intake runner size. Get straight plugs so they don't interfere with headers.

But, Vortec or any decent small chamber head would work with the 290 HP cam and perk the motor up. Obviously vortec heads would need some different springs and retainers to match the lift. With Blue LS2 springs and some Comp retainers they make for around .570-.580 lift on vortec heads.

OK so if I get the vortec heads would the camera I have which is a summit 1105 work with the stock Springs till I get the blue spring..

I am pretty sure the stock springs & retainers limit lift to .480

LS2 # 12625033 GMPP springs. $55

Comp Cams retainers #787-16. $55-60

And thanks for the info and I looked the spring up I may jus order them and the 062 vortec s from summit .. Question.. If I do that do I jus use stock rockers and push rods or 1.6 rockers and Idk Wat size push rods sorry bout the million questions I may tell u like I tell my friends I'm a parts replacer I can install anything u bring but I can not match anything.. I need to learn more in that department lol

If your 290/350 is already in service. You might be ahead to get a conventional head. The vortec heads require self aligning rocker arms and a different intake.

AFR, Dart, and Edelbrock make some quality stuff. Don't waste money on the aluminum Corvette -113 heads, they don't flow that well.

Do you have a ballpark price you want to spend?

It's not in service I just took the crate down and unwrapped it n put it on the engine stand this morning .. No set price yet but if u had to guess buying heads and possibly intake if I use vortecs probably around a grand seeing as I only have 85 dollars worth of raffle tickets in the motor and was gifted cam and lifter set was going to use headers and intake and carb from previous motor so.. I could stand a grand

If you can budget it and they fit, the 3/8" push rods are the way to go, but changing rocker geometry means you will need either shorter or longer length pushrods. The only way to know how long they need to be is to get a pushrod measuring tool and some ink and play with it until you find the length you need. Roller rockers are a really nice upgrade but they can be pricey. As long as you use an aftermarket rocker (example; https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/cca-1412-16/overview/) and not the factory stamped one you should be fine.

Quite honestly with what you have and what you plan on doing with it, I would bolt it in as is. Your going to have plenty of punch @ the rpms your set up for. You probably have a 200r4 unless someone put the 700r4 it in.

Yea I put the 700r4 in.. And I thought bout that but figured I'd add a little to it with a few bolt on since I won it and didn't buy it..
