Need help removing carb (Buick 231 V-6)!

I'm tempted to write this one off as a total loss and just start over

That's probably the best idea. You can use a tubing cutter and cut it somewhere downstream. Don't use a cut-off tool or anything that produces sparks. Then get that sad looking nut off without damaging the filter housing. Fuel lines are pretty easy to get or make.

Like the guys above stated the easiest way to remove the old line is to cut behind the nut and hold filter housing with open end wrench and probably use vise grips at this point then repair line or look at summit or jegs both offer replacement fuel lines at reasonable prices . But if you can get father in law over im sure he will get you pointed in the right direction . BTW no heat ! or open flame ! or you will have much bigger problems ! LOL
