Ha Ya'll,
First of all let me say I appreciate all of the responses and info that I receive. There will be no killing of the messenger here! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Believe me, I wanted to 4L80/85E which is a large trans; however, I wanted a packaged deal and I had to have that G8 LS-2. I am no stranger to Hot Rodding and getting greasy. I am in too deep ($$$$) to turn back now. I will make the trans fit even if I have to cut out the old tunnel and fab and weld in a new one. I am more concerned with the wiring, fuel delivery, cooling, which is the better swap kit over another and why? Will the G8 exhaust manifolds fit or should I just put on headers? Which oil pan should I use that will not hang below the crossmember; Chevy Muscle Car, LH8, Holley, etc.? How do I post pics of my wagons?

Thanks,
Sleeper Wagons

Like I said above the Cadillac ctsv pan seems to be the most popular pan that doesn't hang below the cross member. It's said the the fbody pan is even shallower.

For cooling it seems the easiest way is to get a dual passenger side radiator. The ls water pumps inlet and outlet point to the passenger side of the engine bay.

The gm muscle car pan is about the same shape as a CTS V pan. The diffrence is the Muscle car pan new comes with pan of course the pick up the baffle the dipstick the hardware everything you need to put it on for under $150 where as the CTS pan if your area is anything like mine i never found one and new they are $400. So id choose the muscle car pan its your best bet. Holley is also expensive.

I dont know if the G8 manifolds will fit or not. I know camaro and corvette will but truck wont. They make GBody headers but there not cheap and you can mod Fbody headers to work.

Hay Guys,
UMI has the correct control arms to swap 1 64-72 A Body rear into the G Body. I went with the Muscle Car Oil Pan Kit over the CTS-V pan. I found pics of the Muscle Car Oil Pan installed in a G Body and it was a close fit. I also found pics of the CTS-V oil pan on and it looks similar to the G8 oil pan. There is no way the G8 pan will fit without notching the cross member. The sump portion of the CTS-V and the G8 pans are longer from the front to the back than the Muscle Car Pan. Plus the Muscle Car pan was about $200 cheaper at the dealer than the CTS-V (One of you did mention that). I was hoping to find a company to modify my G8 harness as appose to buying a new one. The only company I found was SpearTech; however, they are no longer modifying harnesses at this time. Does anyone know of a company that can modify my G8 harness for a reasonable price? It looks like I'm going with the Muscle Rod/BRP engine mounts and trans cross member kit for my swap. Their kit may cost a little more, but their kit is specific for the LS and 6L80E combination.

Thanks again for all of the info.

How can I get my factory oil pressure gauge to work with my ls swap using the original rear of block oil port? Do anybody have part numbers for fittings used to allow factory Gbody sender to work at rear of block on the ls ?
