Hello new to the forum and in need of some help. I have a 1983 Grand Prix that I have owned for 20 years and am finally trying to get it back together. Was stock then went race now want to go back to stock.the problem is its been in storage since 94 w no motor or trans. I am in need of a donor car for parts. Where do you find these at???? It seems like they have dried up and not around anymore. Any advice or help is appreciated.

It might be cheaper if you used that as a donor car and found one intact..what kind of racing was the car used for?

actually just 1/4 mile on the weekends, the exterior is clean and interior is also clean on mine,it had a 383 stroker in it last w built trans, 3" stainless dual exhaust is allready under my car also, never been in winter and I am the second owner so my car is prolly cleaner than what I will be finding for sale online anyways. I took the heater box (outside the firewall) out for making more room for big block and what not so the parts I do need are hard to find thats why I was thinking the donor car would work best for me. I am in IL and wyomingclassic cars has several to choose from but non running and transport predicts a small problem.

oh ok... when I heard it was used for racing I thought it had a cage in it, windows gone and who know what else was ripped out of it for the track....you`d spend lots of $$$$ and time getting one of our circle track car back legally on the road...

if all your basically missing if the drive line then put sumthing in there for now till you build or something comes along that suits your needs

You may be looking at $800-1000 to have a non running car shipped. I checked into shipping one from Ohio last spring. Depends on how much the parts ore worth to you also. There are pick and pull yards around that you should be able to get most of the parts you need without shipping a donor car.

wish it was that simple bud, I need the condenser, radiator, engine trans ,trans crossmember all brackets, overflow tanks, nuts, bolts the entire heater/ac box outside the firewall assembly, wiring etc. etc. Alot of stuff got thrown out or lost during the last 15 years.....dont care about body or interior on donor just as long as the mechanics are there

I'd be careful swapping out evaporators and condensers, you could get a few bad eggs. Why not splurge and buy a new universal hot rod a/c system that works like a new car?

...do you mean you want to move it back to near 100% stock?? That's a lot of work

You should have no problem finding a suitable parts car in your area. There are tons of them, you just need to be patient enough to find the right one.
