Need to look for a 30 spline axle set

Picked up a Yukon locker and ring & pinion set for my 86 ls Monte. Problem is, it is a 30 spline and my LS has 28 spline axles. Any one know of which moser or other company axle will work with out any mods with an other wise stock rear end and axle tubes?

Moser axles will work you just need them for your application cut with a 30spline. Axle tubes do not come into play in this situation. All your doing is getting a little thicker axle with the correct spline and axle length needed to make work in your existing rear. No other mods are needed as long as you stick with c- clip axles.

I'm assuming the Monte no longer has the stock rear then? I'm guessing it now has an 8.5 instead of the 7.5?

same question. you say a yukon locker, you mean the chevy yukon truck?

I thought there was a difference between axles on a 8.5 compared to 7.5 other than spline count but I may be wrong. Anyways the Moser's will work nicely for you make sure you get the axle bearings from that site as well they are really nice, the axles don't come with studs or bearings sadly.

The stock rear for the Monte is a 7.5 with 26 spline axles. The 8.5 has 28 splines but wasn't put in the Montes. You won't find axles or a carrier for a 7.5 rear with 30 splines. I think you bought a carrier for the wrong rear.

Do us a favor and take a picture of your rear end. Someone may have put in an 8.5" before you so that's where the confusion may be coming from. The 7.5"s never had 28 spline axles. If it's a 7.5 that means somebody upgraded to a 28 spline carrier and axles already

some of the 7 5/8 carriers which fit in the 7.5 housing has 28 spline side gears..it could be the 7.5 and has been upgraded by someone
