I’m guessing periodic up until the Thunderbirds.

Ford got an obsession with stainless in the early 20’s, which is why a lot of Ford’s cars ended up with stainless trim.
It sort of evolved into the 31s shortly after.
Allegheny Ludlum approached Ford with the idea of the 36s (which were 35s) and he approved the idea for promotional cars.

The Continentals and Thunderbirds happened just because ATI wanted more promotional vehicles.

Budd Company did an occasional "build a car using stainless steel" project for different car companies with hopes of developing a new market for their stainless steel, ATI may have had the same motivation
