Put on a new 1405 carb for my car and it runs but just not enough. When i put it to the floor it doesnt respond hard at all. How do i make it run normal when i floor it all the way.

Well, you may wish to fill in all of the missing data points in your original post. What engine is in the car, cam specs, heads, compression, etc. I know a fair amount about carbs, but I do not immediately recognize the carb number either, so it may be helpful if you posted what kind of carb it is. There are just too many carbs out there for most of us to know them all by list or model number ( I know the Holley 3310, 1850 and 4779, but that's about it off the top of my head) Is it a Holley? Carter? Edelbrock? Vacuum secondary? Double Pumper? etc. Plus, what gearing/trans/converter are in the car? What kind of carb did you remove, what ignition are you running, what linkage, is the TV cable geometry right, etc. Forum posting requires lots of detail as most of the time we do not know your car and can't see it. No part universally works for every engine or car, and knowing what you have goes a long way to telling us which direction to send you in. A helpful hint would be to tell you to write a description of your car/truck for your signature in your profile section, so that it prints up every time you make a post.

I will also add that if you replaced a Quadrajet with another 600 cfm carb on an otherwise stock 305, it won't make any real difference in performance unless your old one was not working right. In fact, you may lose off idle throttle response as compared to stock. If you did not hook the TV cable up with the right geometry, you can damage your transmission, and may also lose full throttle downshifts.

I understand what you are saying. It a 87 305 ho and it has a mild cam ill have to find the specs and rigt it down a performer intake stock heads , headers dual exhaust and a 3.73 gear. i put the new edelbrock 600 cfm carb on there becasue the quadrajet wasnt working right. and all the cables and vaccum are hooked up right. Me and my budy were thinking i gotta be the jets becasue it as just a little throttle reponse on it and the car runs fine. thanks

If the carb is new, it probably is not a jetting problem, as the Edelbrocks tend to be jetted fairly well off the shelf for a mostly stock engine. I would start off with a step up spring assortment, and go a step leaner, meaning a weaker spring. This will keep the rods in the jets longer. Also, you will want to set your idle mixture to the best idle vacuum reading. This is easy enough to do, and only requires an inexpensive vacuum gauge that is then hooked up to manifold vacuum. Make it as lean as possible before the vacuum starts to drop off. Just remember that leaner makes more power until it starts to misfire as excess fuel will cool the charge and not burn. Dead lean can also break stuff, but it is not likely you will run into this issue with your parts combo. Now all this is a moot point if you still have the computer HEI on it, but do not have the computer any more. If you did that, you have eliminated the advance curve in the distributor which would make it a dog. If you retained the computer but just chucked the carb, it will be a dog if you eliminated the MAP sensor as it allows the computer to perform the vacuum advance functions and sense load.
