New elcamino... well sort of

honestly i can't stand it. the way they cut the cabin just looks but *ss ugly to me. other than that though, (and the pontiac symbol--if it's an elcamino it has to be a chevy) it is very nice. holden has a few really nice cars that would do well over here.

Why GM is making all of the cool stuff Pontiac and not Chevy is beyond me. Would I buy it? No because it would be too expensive for me to afford. They payment would likely be around $600+ a month, and I can do a lot of things for that kind of money. That's almost as much as my mortgage payment! Plus, it will use too much gas for me to be able to drive it every day. Maybe when it gets to be a rusty beater that someone is selling for $1,000 on Craigslist I will consider it, but for now...no.

Good old gm putting a old car name on another holden that looks nothing like the older car.

I think the G8 is pretty nice. I sat in one at the Detroit Auto Show this year, much roomier than the current Grand Prix. I think the V6 model which I think had 250hp was around $25K, the base on the V8 was $30K. Automobile just tested a V8 G8 vs. a V8 BMW 5 series. The sticker prices were $33 and $66 if I recall correctly. All of the performance numbers were pretty much dead on. Obviously the BMW had nicer leather and a nav system, etc for the extra money, but the G8 was really impressive. There was talk of the next Impala being based on the same platform.

Why should GM make it look like the original???
I think too many companies are jumping on that band wagon lately. Its getting old fast. Time to move out of the 60s.
And for the record, they are not calling it an el camino. Its a pontiac and will have a new name.
Right now its called the G8 ST (sport truck) but GM is letting the public vote on a name.

Here is the top gear test of the Vauxhall Vxr8
Basically the same car as the holdon or G8 under the vauxhall name.
