I was thinking if that's the original header panel, grille, etc...it''s an '81. Unless of course it had been replaced at one time. With no registration/ title, there's no proof, unless you verify the serial number.

I only thought, that maybe it was registered in 81 somewhere in the EU and came to Austria in 83.

Wow your laws are crazy. Its worse that California and Cali get crazy. Lucky you its a one time thing. You could get away with any sbc😉 427 or 434 stroker? No problem just keep everything original looking as possible. Hmmm this sounds somewhat fun. In Austria every car is a sleeper!

But I found out, that there´s also a concert in Vienna two days later...Vienna is only 30 minutes away...so it would be really cool!

now the news:
I finally got the "new" malibu...we hauled it last week on Saturday. Of course I checked it immediately after unloading and I was really surprised.
It´s in a really great shape! I just orderd new tie-rods, new brake parts and the engine mounts.
Additionally I bought the original engine to the car 3 weeks ago. Sadly it is no 350, or 305. It is an 267 V8. Whatever...I painted it anyway.

Have fun with it. I'm glad you tracked down the original drivetrain. This means you will meet the requirements to legally put the car back on the road again?
I would be amused to know what Lynyrd Skynyrd does in Vienna when they are not performing. I have a picture in my head of hairy old guys in tuxedos in a VIP box at the Opera House.
