Hi Everyone,

I was recently given a base model cutlass supreme 4DR and told to build a hot rod, on a $500 dollar budget, ya right... I spent way more than that on my factory 350 4spd '79 Malibu (sold before I even got to do body work)... Anyways... I am doing this as a high school senior project. I have a '79 305 with a TH350 going into it, that or a Cadillac 425 that we have no parts for... I plan on trying to figure out how to put a console in it from a mid 90's olds international that we have sitting around. I have power seats from a ford explorer that will have fabbed brackets... I hate doing budget stuff... It will definitely be interesting...
I got the car from someone that had cats living in the car for over several years... and both of the windows were left down. The dash has no cracks??? The floor has some holes from the windows being open and one on the transmission tunnel from it leaking...God...Did I mention the car has 48000 original miles.

Plans:

-Gutted to bare minimum: NO A/C heater, back seat, trim, one manual mirror, manual steering, no carpet (Herculiner instead)

-305 or 350 if one turns up in my shop...pray...also have a Carter 4bbl carb

-Want to auto-meter gauges but I think they will put me over...

-Have a set of original Crager S/S but they are bent trying to get an estimate on them

-Have 2 sets of the base model Monte/Malibu wheels i know at least 2 wheels don't have any scratches. Have some old Pontiac's need stripped and redone (For sale??)

Hoping for the best I dont know if this will work I have never done a low beyond low budget.

$500 wont get much, but sounds like you know what you are doin and have some sort of plan. Although as everyone knows plans are only good for the day, never know what might pop up tomorrow. Good luck and keep us posted.

I have alot of connections to get free and very cheap items. I have friends in high places that have already asked what do i need and so on. I have a friend that volenteered to let me spray the car at his body shop and use any paint i want. Tools are not an issue by no means. My family owns a high performance race shop that i will borrowed used parts from to complete it. It is just a different way of doing it I have never had such a low budget on a build.
