Hey guys and gals. Im Drew. I picked up a 79 Malibu yesterday from Conneticut and i have a good amount of change that id like to put into the car. It has a 350 right now with some work so im probobly just going to leave that in it. Im looking for a decent coilover set for stock location because i want to lower the car alot. I am planning on doing a mix between pro touring and pro street setup. I read a thread on another site where someone says they used Strange Adjustable 9 3/4" front shocks and put them in rear and it lowered the car 6", which is what id like to do. I have experience with custom fabrication so i will be doing a mini tub in the car and max notching the frame to fit 18x10s on the rear. The wheels im going with are 17x8.5 and 18x10 Boss 338 wheels with matte grey spokes and a polished lip.

I plan on also getting a 6" harwood cowl hood since its the only one that i can find that goes to the window (if anyone knows where i can find other hoods that tall and go to window, please let me know).

Also, if anyone knows where i can find a aluminum drag wing for these cars, please send me the link.

I attended the New England Summer Nationals in Worcester, Mass. this year and saw another 79 malibu with the exact setup im going for. However, i spotted a front lip on the car that i cannot seem to find anywhere on the internet. Here is a picture i took of the car, if anyone knows where i can find it, please inform me.

Im undecided on what power adder im going to do right now, but by winter i will have either a F1 procharger with a cog setup or a Weiland 8-71 blower.

As for the paint scheme. It is currently painted primer grey, and for some reason i really love that color. Im going to respray it primer gray and then put a flat clear coat over top to save the paint. Then im going to put the same flat black stripes that i have on my Supersnake on the malibu, just 10" wider.

for the interior, i plan on fiberglassing my own custom dash and then buying digital gauges from Dakota Digital. I plan on doing a 10pt cage in the car, painted to match the exterior, stripe at all.

Have a good day ladies and gentlemen.

-Drew

Welcome to GBF!!! I'd love to see some pics of your 'Bu when you can...I was always a fan of the primer gray look on all rods for that matter...My Dad grew up in the 50's-60's and that was a common practice back then...I still remember when he did that to a friend's '72 Chevelle...Car looked great. Good luck with your project, let the fun begin 8)

ill return home on wednesday and ill have pics of the car up for you fellas to see!
