Hey everybody. Came home from Afghanistan year and a half ago and picked up a 94 Firehawk to,start as a restoration project. Well rebuilt the engine and it's currently in the shop getting the freshly rebuilt engine installed. Well about a week ago my buddy decided to sell his 87 Grand national so I offered a trade and he said yes. So as soon as the firehawk is done I'm trading it for his GN. My current dd is a 97 Grand Prix gtp that's got a few modifications, but when it comes to the 3800 w body scene I'm very well knowledgeable, but now that I'm getting I to the g body scene I couldn't tell what's up or down. As far as I know about his gn, is the engine was rebuilt about 30k ago and interior well the interior is trashed so over this winter I plan on restoring it back to show room quality as well as making it faster. I raced it the other day and I'm pretty sure my Grand Prix would take it easily. Any help is greatly appreciated. I do live in salt lake and tootle where rjc racing is fairly close to me but if anybody has a safely modding thread thank could read it would be great. Figure I gotta start somewhere and when I started with the Grand Prix I started with forums. So here I am...

(Seriously though, im trucking for now.)
With every new purchase you should change all the fluids. Engine, trans and rear end. GNs were abused a lot. Very few were babied. Just ask most second or third owners of GNs.
The motor may have been rebuilt but what about the turbo and the transmission? All must be checked first. Then check the rest. A stock GN with slicks was a low 13 high 12 sec car when new
