Recently was given a 1986 Grand Prix 2+2 by my dad. All original, needs work but it should be a great project.

Well it seems to be in pretty decent shape. What all do you plan on doing to it?

as of now, im hoping to get my hands on a decent 350 and or 383, since im not too much of a fan of the 305 they put in, given that the motor is #'s matching to the car i will however restore the motor and stuff it under the work bench for now  im thinking of doing a spin off on headlights off the Yearone Bandit T/A i want to see what it looks like on this application. ive just scratched the surface of the site here so ideas are flowing. i do however like the idea of the exhaust exiting before the rear tires on both sides. i appreciate any and all tips and things of that nature.

Welcome to the site. The car looks to be in pretty good shape. I also have one of these cars, but its really rough, and is going to need major restoration. The major items (front nosepiece, rear glass, trunk lid etc.) are intact and useable. I've thought about pulling the 305, installing a mild 350, and possibly putting a manual transmission in behind it. Like you though, I will hang onto the original number matching drivetrain.

I believe mine just needs the usual gbody rust fixes, door bottoms and above the rear wheel. I'm glad your vital pieces are in tact who knows how hard and costly those can be to find and buy.

Some of the stuff can be had in reproduction from a company called Lauren Engineering in California, but in different materials. The original stuff is unobtanium, unless you can find an original parts car, with good useable stuff on it.
