Just wanted to say hi and i finally have a car to talk about on here now, i just picked up a 84 Hurst/olds with T-tops with 26000 actual miles, 1 owner for $6000, im sure i'll have many questions to come! thanks!

Cool. The 84 has the 8.5 rear I believe. Going to keep it showroom stock or stock appearing? Pics are good.

it needs paint from sitting outside most of its years so im doing a complete repaint in the spring, all stock but mabye someday a 455 under the hood, hey wheres the best place to look for a complete door/trunk/t-top seal kit?? Oh and i'll post some pics when i get a free second!

Don't know about the seals maybe www.gmdirect.com. As for the stripes to go with your paintjob I liked www.stencils&stripes.com better than the other outfit. Can't remember I think their was a link on their site that to you to another auto related site and on that site I noticed where for mentioning it I could get a discount at S&S. A lot of people like to build up a 403 for use in a HO/442 because it is externally identicle to the 307 and while not a great race engine due to the windowed mains still an outstanding platform for say a 400HP/400TQ pump gas small block street motor. That way you can put your vin 9 307 up for safe keeping for any future concors type restoration or any future buyer. That said I love cubes for strong but still relatively mild & reliable and (relatively) heavy street car. So the 455 would be one of my pics for that. As you can see for mine I chose the Cadillac 500 and am very pleased with it. I can also put my vin9 307 back anytime I choose. For the Olds 455 and a great strong running even relatively fuel efficient street car recepie with pics etc check out www.robertpowersmotorsports.com. Today you can just buy the headers. To bottom line it before being stolen Bob ran a 12.3 at 110 and got almost 15mpg hwy with power brakes and nice cruise rpm. So far on mine Ive run a 12.5 at 110 and gotten 17.0mpg hwy also power brakes, AC, nice cruise rpm full weight, exhaust, radials, in as driven trim. Hope I did not get off on a tangent that does not interest ya.

No thats all good info! like u, im pretty much looking for something for street performance with intimidating sound! until i do the swap i think im going to leave the 307 all stock under the hood and detail it, but its too Quiet! so im going to throw some 40 series flowmasters on there for now and get rid of the cat to wake it up a little.

I would not bother moding the 307 either. Pipes can be kept with the next incarnation. If you go with Flowmasters stagger them or add an X or an H so that you don't have that annoying cruise drone resinance. Personally I have always seen had the best results with the straight thru types like Walker Ultra flows or Magnaflows. Flowmasters don't actually flow that well relative to any pipe size but they do have that patented sound.

hey welcome to the site. sounds like a very nice car you have on your hands

The h.o. 307 (if you can call it that with a straight face... ) has a pretty good sized cam in it for what they are, and they sound pretty good.
I put a set of cheap dynomax headers, 40 series flowmasters and a 2.5 inch x pipe set up on my 307 before I blew it up and it sounded awesome.
Sounded pretty good with the chevy 350 I had in it for a while too.
That being said the 455 with hooker supercomps, a 3 inch x pipe and 40 series flowmasters sounds even better! 😀
