Does anyone have any recommendations for a new headliner board for an 81 el Camino ? I was thinking about this one https://www.mikesmontes.com/El-Camino-Headliner-on-the-Board--Choose-a-Color_p_331.html because the price of it plus shipping is not too expensive; but I don’t know if it any good.
ABS headliner substrates are JUNK. Just reuse your original by scraping off the foam and then re-covering it with the correct fabric. ABS is not dimensionally stable nor suitable for a headliner application. The aftermarket uses ABS because they do not have the equipment or the correct materials to make an OEM headliner substrate.

Not to mention that original boards are not flexible and would be expensive to ship.

Unfortunately mine was damaged too badly to repair. So now I have to get a new one if the abs ones are bad I guess I could start checking junkyards for a oem one

Correct.

The original provides a degree of heat insulation off the roof, noise barrier, and is stiff enough not to sag over wide distances.

Unless you're adding 1970s style bows across the roof to hold it and keep shape, and you're willing to sacrifice the heat/noise protection, the abs ones just don't fit and hold shape

I took mine out and took to local upholstery shop and had it re-covered

My Original Headliner board was wasted too. I repaired it with Skrim tape on the back side . then glued on new Foam and new material . I went with a Black denim as it was a stronger fabric that helped reinforce the repaired board. link below to skrim tape on Amazon
