I read many threads, and I am amazed what people do. A lot of gifted people out there with great ideas and I wonder where they get there time. Just saying thanks for the info and keep up the great work. My story... I bought a 82 Chevy wagon approx. 8 years ago. I drove it for a couple and parked it in the garage because it had a flat lobe on the cam. I bought a slightly better cam for it and went to change it out. As I was thinking, Why do I want to put money in a 305. Searched for a 350. Didn't come across any reasonable priced at the time and picked up a a 400 for 100 bucks. I did a cheap rebuild with little machine work. Crank and rods. Bore ok. Assembled and ran the pi@# out of it. Disappointed with the single wheel peel but laid rubber forever. Gas at that time was high so I parked t back in the garage. It needed body work and never left the garage since. I m just about done with body and trying to do a ram air setup or shaker for cool air. does anybody have Ram Air, Shaker, or I think the cowl scoop would be less time consuming. I will try to upload some pictures of my wagon. not computer savey

welcome to the site. There is a member here with a white monte SS and a shaker hood. Looks cool but I imagine it took way more fab than bolting on a scoop or cowl.

Found it. Look for 85_SS. Have not seem him post for a while though. I recall he had a bunch of pics on either the montess site or cardomain

I agree with Garrett,
It could be used either to let in cool air, or warm air out depending on how it's set up to perform... If you're not using a (sealed) cowl induction air cleaner, then I'm sure it can help letting warm air escape.
The cowl induction hood was designed primarily to let a cool charge of air directly into the air cleaner and carb.

Greetings, you guys forgot me that quick. Oh & welcome Mr Dirt. As I explained the in & outs (plus's & minus's) of a cowl hood. If you don't seal it to the under side of the hood, setting at a stop sign on Power Tour with the windows up cause it's raining will kill you slowly. As the vapors will come in to the passenger area right off the engine. But if you only drive on sunny days with the windows down No problem. Then at about 35 MPH the air pressure changes from a low pressure area at the base of windshield to a High pressure area. Hence a NASCAR intake, a 1969 Z-28 comes to mind (real Trans - Am cars). At 70 MPH their is serious air pressure pushing air into the cowl. And mine works so good (cold-cool air in) that in April & most of May I have to remove mine. So I just went to look for that info & realize that the pictures & info was in my old for sale post. I'll re post it in the future, Bob Jr.
