Stupid question here - what vapors come off the engine? The charcoal canister holds the fuel vapors until sucked into the intake via carb. The crankcase is evacuated thru the PCV into the intake via the cab. The combustion process is vented thru the exhaust. The only reason I'm Asking is because I've seen many gbodys that are missing the seal at the back side of the hood, which would setup the same situation as the cowel hood..

I did a shaker on my Cutlass. I also screwed it up in the process lol. Looks good from 50 feet away though...

Thanks for the info. before I take a saw to the hood, I will check out the SS Monty. The cowl scoop is would take the least amount of time. I have a Shaker from a Trans Am that's been sitting around, just the scoop nothing more. That may require more time then I have. Does anybody have a Ram Air setup that you can send pictures? I have fabrication skills, But been along time since I welded aluminum. I really like that air box. Great photos

I measured the angles wrong on the front of the scoop, and yes, cut the hole too big.

If you want to do a shaker, you'll need the bottom half of the scoop. Looks just like a regular air cleaner base, but accepts the v-clamp to fasten the scoop to it.

Greetings, you guys forgot me that quick. Oh & welcome Mr Dirt. As I explained the in & outs (plus's & minus's) of a cowl hood. If you don't seal it to the under side of the hood, setting at a stop sign on Power Tour with the windows up cause it's raining will kill you slowly. As the vapors will come in to the passenger area right off the engine. But if you only drive on sunny days with the windows down No problem. Then at about 35 MPH the air pressure changes from a low pressure area at the base of windshield to a High pressure area. Hence a NASCAR intake, a 1969 Z-28 comes to mind (real Trans - Am cars). At 70 MPH their is serious air pressure pushing air into the cowl. And mine works so good (cold-cool air in) that in April & most of May I have to remove mine. So I just went to look for that info & realize that the pictures & info was in my old for sale post. I'll re post it in the future, Bob Jr.
